Owls Anyone?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS7I2tfWQMU

What can I say... I love to teach art...but when I can also teach about nocturnal animals that are super cool, I will! I read the students an amazing story called Little Owl's Night,  The youtube video is posted above.  The owl is so adorable and has huge eyes, so it can see at night!

Sharks Anyone?

What can I say...I love to teach art...but when I can also throw a mini science lesson on Counter shading Camouflage...I will do it!

This lesson was all me!  I came up with the idea for this and the process all on my own..It was not a complete success, but a learning process for sure!

Aztec Suns

Great lesson for 5th graders.. The students had already learned about the Aztecs earlier in the year, so this project fit well into their curriculum.   They learned about Mexican tin foil art, the Aztecs, embossing..and much more!

Chinese New Year

(Picture above is online example)

I found this fun art project and thought it would be a great lesson for my second graders.  We learned about China and the Chinese New Year Celebration.  This was a really good art integration project, as the students were learning about China in their classrooms.

For this lesson I focused a lot on Symmetry because they were learning about it in their classrooms.  I also tried to get them to overlap with different color paper to make their designs more interesting.
